The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:15 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Gold, Griffin, Hartling, Mégie, Merchant, Meredith, Ogilvie, Petitclerc, Raine, Seidman and Stewart Olsen (11).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, the committee continued its study on the role of robotics, 3D printing and artificial intelligence in the healthcare system. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 14.)

WITNESSES:

Matt Ratto, Associate Professor, Faculty of Information, University of Toronto;

Konrad Walus, Associate Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Ratto, Mr. Walus and Dr. Wong each made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:43 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
