 The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs

 

 has the honour to present its

 

NINTH REPORT


 

Your Committee, which was authorized by the Senate on Thursday, February 28, 2008, to conduct a comprehensive review of the amendments made by An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act and the Income Tax Act (S.C. 2004, c. 24), respectfully requests that it be empowered to engage the services of such counsel and technical, clerical and other personnel as may be necessary, for the purposes of its study.

Pursuant to Chapter 3:06, section 2(1)(c) of the Senate Administrative Rules, the budget submitted to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration and the report thereon of that Committee are appended to this report.

APPLICATION FOR BUDGET AUTHORIZATION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING MARCH 31, 2009

The Honourable Senator Andreychuk moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Di Nino:

That the Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs be authorized to undertake a comprehensive review of the amendments made by An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act and the Income Tax Act (S.C. 2004, c. 24); and

That the committee submit its final report no later than May 11, 2008.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

APPENDIX (B) TO THE REPORT 

 

THURSDAY, April 10, 2008

 

    The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration has examined the budget presented to it by the Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs for the proposed expenditures of the said Committee for the fiscal year ending   March 31, 2009 for the purpose of its special study the Canada Elections Act and Income Tax Act, as authorized by the Senate on Thursday, February 28, 2008. The said budget is as follows:

 

Professional and Other Services                $ 2,000
Transportation and Communications          $        0

All Other Expenditures                              $    500

Total                                                        $ 2,500

(Includes funds for participation at conferences)
