The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:38 a.m., the Chair, the Honourable Senator Lise Bacon, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bacon, Forrestall, Grimard, Johnson, Kinsella, Maheu, Mercier, Poulin, Roberge and Spivak (10).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Grafstein.

In attendance: Matthew W. Fraser, Expert Consultant; Monique Hébert, Research Officer, Economics Division, Research Branch, Library of Parliament; Marc Chénier, committee researcher.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 10, 1997, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-32, An Act to amend the Copyright Act.
