The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 11:00 a.m. in room 505, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chairman, the Honourable David Tkachuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Furey, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Kelleher, P.C., Kroft, Oliver and Tkachuk (6).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Roberge (1).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: Gerald M. Lafrenière, Research Officer.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 6, 2000, the committee proceeded to study Bill S-19, An Act to amend the Canada Business Corporations Act and the Canada Cooperatives Act and to amend other Acts in consequence.
Mr. Dupont made an opening statement and, along with other officials, answered questions.
At 12:40 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
