The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs met at 10:05 a..m. this day in Room 257 East Block, the Chair, the Honourable Peter Stollery, presiding.

Members of the sommittee presents: The Honourable Senators Andreychuck, Bolduc, Corbin, Di Nino, Furey, Grafstein, Losier-Cool, and Stollery (8).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Beaudoin (1).

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: David Goetz.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 22, 2000, the Committee proceeded to study Bill C-19, An Act respecting Genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes and to implement the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

The Honourable Lloyd Axworthy made a statement and together with the other witnesses answered questions.

Mr. Narvey made a short statement.

At 11:25 a.m. the committee proceed to study clause-by-clause of Bill C-19.

It was moved by the Honourable Senator Grafstein -- That the Committee complete clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-19.

The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
