Issue 11 - Order of Reference

Extract from the Journals of the Senate, Thursday, June 22, 2000.

Resuming debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Stollery, seconded by the Honourable Senator Carstairs, for the second reading of Bill C-19, An Act respecting genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes and to implement the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

The question then being put on the motion of the Honourable Senator Stollery, seconded by the Honourable Senator Carstairs, for the second reading of Bill C-19, it was adopted.

The Bill was then read the second time.

The Honourable Senator Hays moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Corbin, that the Bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
