The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met at 6:07 p.m., this day, in room 160-S, Center Block, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Chalifoux, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chalifoux, Christensen, Gill, Léger, Pearson and Tkachuk (6).

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: Tonina Simeone.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, September 27, 2001, the Committee proceeded to its examination of issues affecting urban Aboriginal youth, in particular, access, provision and delivery of services, policy and jurisdictional issues, employment and education, access to economic opportunities, youth participation and empowerment, and other related matters. (See Issue No. 6, Tuesday, October 23, 2001, for the full text of the Order of Reference.)

WITNESS:

John Richards, Professor, Business Administration.

Professor Richards made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 7:25 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
