(15) [English] The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8:34 a.m. in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Senator Jack Wiebe, presiding. Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Christensen, Fraser, Gill, Oliver, Stratton, Tunney and Wiebe (8). In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering. Also present: The official reporters of the Senate. Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 20, 2001, the committee continues to examine international trade in agricultural and agri-food products, and short-term and long-term measures for the health of the agricultural and the agri-food industry in all regions of Canada. (For complete text of Order of Reference see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.) WITNESSES: From the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan: Terry Hildebrandt, President; Cecilia Olver, Director. Mr. Hildebrandt made a statement, and with Ms Olver, answered questions. At 10:30 a.m., the committee proceeded in camera. The Honourable Senator Gill moved, - That the committee permit the Chair to seek permission from the Senate, notwithstanding usual practices, to deposit its report on the present and future state of forestry with the Clerk of the Senate if the Senate is not sitting. The question being put on the motion, it was agreed. The Honourable Senator Tunney moved, - That the commit tee approve the supplementary budget in the following amount to study international trade, and the short-term and the long term measures for the health of the agriculture and the agri-food industry in all regions in Canada.
