The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this, at 5:35 p.m. in Room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Leonard J. Gustafson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Fairbairn, P.C., Gustafson, LaPierre, Oliver, Stratton, Tunney and Wiebe (7).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, June 11, 2001 the committee began consideration of of Bill S-22, An Act to provide for the recognition of the Canadien Horse as the national horse of Canada.

Mr. Paquet made an opening statement and answered questions.
Mr. Ted Lawrence made an opening statement and answered questions.
Mr. Ray Lalonde and Mr. Gerry Lalonde each made an opening statement and answered questions.
Mr. Paquet was re-invited to answer additional questions.
