The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce has the honour to table its
FIRST REPORT
Your Committee, which was authorized by the Senate to incur expenses for the purpose of its examination and consideration of such legislation and other matters as were referred to it, reports, pursuant to Rule 104 of the rules, that the expenses incurred by the Committee during the Second Session on the Thirty-sixth Parliament are as follows:
1. With respect to its examination and consideration of legislation:
- Your Committee examined 7 bills (C-22, C-24, C-25, C-37, S-3, S-19 and S-25).

2. With respect to its special study on the financial system in Canada authorized by the Senate on Tuesday, November 23, 1999:

Within the framework of the examination of the present state of Canada's financial system, one study dealt with the Export Development Act and the other with capital gains taxation. Moreover, there was a fact-finding mission to Chicago, Illinois, to gather information pertaining to the financing of small- and medium-sized businesses in Canada.
