The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:00 a.m., in Halifax, the Chair, the Honourable Lise Bacon, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bacon, Callbeck, Forrestall, Jaffer, Oliver and Phalen (6).
In attendance: Joseph Dion, Researcher for the Library of Parliament and Martin Brennan, Special Advisor to the Committee.
Also in attendance: The official reporters for the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on September 26, 2001, the committee proceeded with the examination of issues facing the intercity busing industry (See Issue No. 21, Monday, February 11, 2002, Tuesday, February 12, 2002, Wednesday, February 13, 2002, for full text of the Order of Reference).

The witnesses made a presentation and answered questions.
George Brookins, Owner of the Trius Tours Ltd., tabled with the Clerk of the Committee a brief, which was filed as Exhibit No. 5900-1.37/T1-SS-2, 23 ``1''.
Transport 2000 — Atlantic, the Department of Transport/Nova Scotia and the SMT/Acadian Lines submitted a brief.
At 12:20 a.m., It was agreed — That the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.

At 3:40 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 3:50 p.m., the committee resumed.
The witnesses from the Senior Federation of Prince Edward Island, the Senior College of Prince Edward Island, the Senior Active Living Centre and the Canadian Pensioner's concerned — Nova Scotia made a presentation and answered questions.
The Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia, the Senior Federation of Prince Edward Island, the Senior College of Prince Edward Island, the Seniors Active Living Centre and the Canadian Pensioner's concerned — Nova Scotia each submitted a brief.
