The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day, at 3:38 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the Honourable George J. Furey, Chair, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Baker, P.C., Beaudoin, Buchanan, P.C., Furey, Joyal, P.C and Pearson (7).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Comeau, Gustafson, Sparrow, Stratton and Watt (5).
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Gérald Lafrenière.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 28, 2003, the committee started its study on regulations made pursuant to An Act respecting firearms and other weapons, Statutes of Canada, 1995, Chapter 39, as contemplated by section 118(3) of that Act (For complete text of Order of Reference see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 16.)

The Honourable Wayne Easter, P.C., M.P., the Coalition for Gun Control and the National Firearms Association submitted a brief to the committee.
At 6:05 p.m., in accordance with Rule 92(2)(e), the committee considered its future business in camera.
At 6:17 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
