THE SENATE COMMITTEE OF SELECTION

EVIDENCE

OTTAWA, Thursday, February 6, 2003

The Senate Committee of Selection met this day at 9:00 a.m. to study membership changes on certain committees.

Senator Bill Rompkey (Chairman) in the Chair.

The Chairman: Honourable senators, we have two items in front of us, both relating to membership changes. The Senate Committee on Selection must perform these changes, as the whips do not have jurisdiction over independent senators.

I need a motion for Senator Chaput to replace Senator St. Germain on the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.

Senator Fairbairn: I so move.

The Chairman: Is it your pleasure, honourable senators, to adopt the motion?

Hon. Senators: Agreed.

The Chairman: Carried.

I now need a motion for Senator Ringuette-Maltais to replace Senator Pitfield on the Standing Committee on Rules, Procedure and the Rights of Parliament.

Senator Bryden: I so move.

The Chairman: Is it your pleasure, honourable senators, to adopt the motion?

Hon. Senators: Agreed.

The Chairman: Carried.

Senator Kinsella: I move that the chairman report the changes moved on this day.

The Chairman: Is it agreed, honourable senators?

Hon. Senators: Agreed.

The committee adjourned.
