The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met at 4:10 p.m., this day, in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Richard H. Kroft, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Biron, Fitzpatrick, Harb, Kelleher P.C., Kroft, Massicotte, Meighen, Moore, Prud'homme P.C., Tkachuk (11).
In attendance: Ms. June Dewetering and Mr. Daniel J. Shaw, Analysts, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 1, 2004, the committee undertook its examination of Bill C-249, An Act to amend the Competition Act.
WITNESSES:

Robert Russell, Lawyer, Borden Ladner Gervais;
Dany H. Assaf, Lawyer, Ogilvy Renault, Co-Chair of the Firms's Competition and Trade Law Team.
Mr. Russell made an opening statement and answered questions from members of the committee.
Mr. Assaf made an opening statement and answered questions from members of the committee.
At 5:51 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
