The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 6:15 p.m., this day, in room 256-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Lowell Murray, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Austin, Biron, Day, Downe, Ferretti Barth, Finnerty, Lynch-Staunton, Murray, P.C., Ringuette and Tkachuk (10).
In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Mr. Stephen Laurent and Ms. June Dewetering, Research Officers, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, the committee commenced its examination of Bill C-30, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tables in Parliament on March 23, 2004.

Peter Devries, Director, Assistant Deputy Minister's Office, Economic and Fiscal Policy Branch.
The Honourable Ralph Goodale made a statement and, together with Serge Dumont and Pete Devries, answered questions.
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Day, that the committee complete clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-30.
