The Special Committee on Anti-terrorism met this day at 1:30 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Hugh Segal, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Dagenais, Frum, Joyal, P.C., Peterson, Segal and Tkachuk (7).
In attendance: Lyne Casavant, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Brigitte Lemay, Communications Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 8, 2012, the committee continued its examination of Bill S-7, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, the Canada Evidence Act and the Security of Information Act.
WITNESSES:
Royal Canadian Mounted Police:
Assistant Commissioner Gilles Michaud, National Security Criminal Investigations.
As an individual:
Martin Rudner, Research Professor Emeritus, Carleton University.
Mr. Michaud made a statement and answered questions.
At 2:33 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 2:35 p.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Rudner made a statement and answered questions.
At 3:35 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
