The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day in room 9, Victoria Building, at 4:35 p.m., the Chair, the Honourable Maria Chaput, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Champagne, P.C., Chaput, Fortin-Duplessis, McIntyre, Mockler, Robichaud, P.C., and Tardif (7).

In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Annie Joannette, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 17, 2011, the committee continued its study on CBC/Radio-Canada's obligations under the Official Languages Act and some aspects of the Broadcasting Act. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 8.)

WITNESSES:

Françoise Sigur-Cloutier, President (by videoconference);

Michel Vézina, Secretary and Communications Lead (by videoconference);

Marc Masson, Director of Communications (by videoconference).

Ms. Sigur-Cloutier and Mr. Vézina made a presentation and, along with Mr. Masson, answered questions.

At 5:38 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:41 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee reconvened in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).

At 5:57 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
