The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day in camera at 6:45 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Dawson, Doyle, Eggleton, P.C., Greene, Housakos, MacDonald and Verner, P.C. (8).
In attendance: Terrence Thomas, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Mona Ishack, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, the committee began its examination of the challenges faced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in the context of the complex and changing broadcasting and communications landscape.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda.
Pursuant to subsection 12(1) of the Conflict of Interest Code for Senators, a declaration of private interests was made as follows:
