The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Dawson, Doyle, Eggleton, P.C., Greene, Housakos, MacDonald, Mercer, Merchant, Unger and Verner, P.C. (11).
In attendance: Alexandre Lavoie, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Mona Ishack, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-52, An Act to amend the Transportation Act (administration, air and railway transportation and arbitration).

Minister Lebel made an opening statement and, together with Ms. Gibbons and Mr. Langlois, answered questions.
