The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 10:30 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Downe, Fortin-Duplessis, Housakos, Martin, Moore, Oh, Robichaud, P.C. and Verner, P.C. (10).

In attendance: James Lee, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 30, 2014, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-41, An Act to implement the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the Republic of Korea. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 18.)

WITNESSES:

Canadian Apparel Federation:

Bob Kirke, Executive Director.

Canadian Council of Chief Executives:

Ailish Campbell, Vice President, Policy, International and Fiscal Issues.

Unifor:

Jim Stanford, Economist (by video conference).

The chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Kirke, Ms. Campbell and Mr. Stanford each made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:31 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:36 a.m., the committee resumed.

It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-41, An Act to implement the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the Republic of Korea.

It was agreed that the title stand postponed.

It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, stand postponed.

It was agreed that, with leave and pursuant to rule 12-20(3), the committee group clauses.

It was agreed that clauses 2 to 10 carry.

It was agreed that clauses 11 to 20 carry.

It was agreed that clauses 21 to 30 carry.

It was agreed that clauses 31 to 40 carry.

It was agreed that clauses 41 to 50 carry.

It was agreed that clauses 51 to 60 carry.

It was agreed that clause 61 carry.

It was agreed that Schedule 1 carry.

It was agreed that Schedule 2 carry.

It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, carry.

It was agreed that the title carry.

It was agreed that the bill carry.

It was agreed that Bill C-41 be reported to the Senate.

At 11:38 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
