The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at
5:35 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Buth, Cordy,
Dagenais, Eaton, Maltais, Mockler, Ogilvie, Oh, Rivard, Robichaud, P.C., and
In attendance: Jed Chong and Aïcha Coulibaly, Analysts, Parliamentary
Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday,
November 21, 2013, the committee continued its consideration of the importance
of bees and bee health in the production of honey, food and seed in Canada. (For

Derek Lynch, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Organic
Canadian Horticultural Council:
Anne Fowlie, Executive Vice-President.
Flowers Canada Growers:
Cary Gates, Pest Management Director.
Canadian Ornamental Horticulture Alliance:
Michel-Antoine Renaud, Managing Director.
Dr. Lynch, Ms. Fowlie, Mr. Gates and Mr. Renaud each made opening statements
and, together, answered questions.
At 7:08 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
