The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8:04 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Enverga, Mockler, Moore, Ogilvie, Oh, Plett, Rivard, Tardif and Unger (10).

In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly and Jed Chong, Analysts Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-18, An Act to amend certain Acts relating to agriculture and agri-food. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 22.)

Patty Townsend, Chief Executive Officer.

CropLife Canada:

Dennis Prouse, Vice President, Government Affairs.

Canadian Federation of Agriculture:

Humphrey Banack, Vice-President (by video conference).

Canadian Cattlemen's Association:

Ryder Lee, Manager of Federal Provincial Relations;

Dave Solverson, President (by video conference).

Canadian Canola Growers Association:

Jan Dyer, Director of Government Relations.

University of Saskatchewan:

Richard S. Gray, Professor, Bioresource Policy, Business and Economics.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Banack, Ms. Townsend and Mr. Prouse made statements and answered questions.

At 9:06 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:10 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Solverson, Ms. Dyer and Mr. Gray made statements and, together with Mr. Lee, answered questions.

At 10:05 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
