The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 5:10 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Richard Neufeld, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Day, Massicotte, Neufeld, Patterson, Ringuette, Seidman, Sibbeston, Tannas and Wallace (10).

In attendance: Sam Banks and Marc LeBlanc, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-501, An Act respecting a National Hunting, Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day.

The chair made a statement.

It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-501, An Act respecting a National Hunting, Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day.

It was agreed that the title stand postponed.

It was agreed that preamble stand postponed.

It was agreed, on division, that clause 1, which contains the short title, stand postponed.

It was agreed, that clause 2, carry on division.

It was agreed that clause 3 carry.

It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, carry.

It was agreed that the preamble carry.

It was agreed that the title carry.

It was agreed, that the bill carry on division.

It was agreed that the chair report the bill to the Senate.

At 5:16 p.m., the committee resumed.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, the committee continued its study on non-renewable and renewable energy development including energy storage, distribution, transmission, consumption and other emerging technologies in Canada's three northern territories.
