The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day at 9:34 a.m., in room 356-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Vernon White, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Doyle, Frum, Furey, Joyal, P.C., Martin, McIntyre, Nolin, Smith, P.C. (Cobourg), Tkachuk and White (11).

In attendance: Dara Lithwick, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Michel Bédard, Parliamentary Counsel, Senate Law Clerk's Office.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The committee resumed its consideration of a draft report concerning amendments to the Rules of the Senate relating to the Ethics and Conflict of Interest Code for Senators.

After debate, the report was adopted, with the Honourable Senator McCoy abstaining.

It was agreed that the chair present the report to the Senate.

At 10:38 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
