The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day at 9:32 a.m., in room 356- S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Vernon White, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Doyle, Fraser, Frum, Furey, Jaffer, Joyal, P.C., Martin, McIntyre, Seidman, Smith, P.C. (Cobourg), Tkachuk, Wells and White (14).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Hervieux-Payette, P.C. (1).

In attendance: Dara Lithwick, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-518, An Act to amend the Members of Parliament Retiring Allowances Act (withdrawal allowance).

WITNESS:

Aaron Wudrick, Federal Director.

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:15 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:19 a.m., the committee resumed.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, the committee began its consideration of a case of privilege relating to leaks of the Auditor General's report on the audit of senators' expenses.

The Honourable Senator Hervieux-Payette, P.C., made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:13 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
