The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day, at 12:17 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable David M. Wells, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Dallaire, Enverga, Wells and White (4).

In attendance: Martin Auger, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, and delegated on Monday, April 28, 2014 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee began its consideration of the medical, social, and operational impacts of mental health issues affecting serving and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces, including operational stress injuries (OSIs) such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the subcommittee, Issue No. 5.)

WITNESS:

British Columbia Operation Stress Injury Clinic:

Dr. Greg Passey, Clinical Psychiatrist.

The chair made an opening statement.

Dr. Passey made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:55 p.m., the Honourable Roméo A. Dallaire took the chair.

At 1:20 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
