The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:16 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable David Tkachuk, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Campbell, Day, Enverga, Lang, Massicotte, Ringuette, Smith, Tannas and Tkachuk (10).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Wallin (1).

In attendance: Michaël Lambert-Racine and Brett Capstick, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, the committee continued its study on the present state of the domestic and international financial system (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

WITNESSES:

Bank of Canada:

Stephen S. Poloz, Governor;

Carolyn Wilkins, Senior Deputy Governor.

The Chair made a statement.

Mr. Poloz made a statement and, together with Ms. Wilkins, answered questions.

At 5:57 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 6:01 p.m., the committee, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).

At 6:11 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
