The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 10:32 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Douglas Black, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black (Alberta), Day, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Tannas, Tkachuk, Verner, P.C., Wallin and Wetston (8).

In attendance: Adriane Yong and Brett Stuckey, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, the committee continued its examination of issues pertaining to the management of systemic risk in the financial system, domestically and internationally. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 46.)

WITNESS:

Capital Markets Authority Implementation Organization:

Kevan Cowan, Chief Executive Officer.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Cowan made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:15 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:16 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).

At 11:39 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
