The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met this day at 9:35 a.m., in room 160- S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Leo Housakos, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Campbell, Cordy, Downe, Dupuis, Housakos, Lankin, P.C., Marshall, Marwah, McCoy, Mitchell, Munson, Plett, Saint-Germain, Tannas, Tkachuk and Wells (17).

Also in attendance: Nicole Proulx, Clerk of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration and Chief Corporate Services Officer; Charles Robert, Clerk of the Senate and Chief Legislative Officer; Michel Patrice, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel and Chief, Parliamentary Precinct Services; and other senior Senate officials.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(1) of the Rules of the Senate, the committee continued its consideration of financial and administrative matters concerning the Senate's internal administration.

The committee considered the Minutes of Proceedings of May 18, 2017, in public portion.

The Honourable Senator Downe moved:

That the Minutes of Proceedings of May 18, 2017, in public portion, be adopted.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

CIBA/2017-06-08/306(P)|194| — Post-Trip Report: Senator Munson

The Honourable Senator Munson tabled a report regarding his international travel to the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017 in Austria from March 16 to 23, 2017 and made a statement.

After debate, it was agreed that the report be tabled in the Senate.

CIBA/2017-06-08/307(P)|365| — Subcommittee on Diversity: Extension of Reporting Deadline

The Honourable Senator Marshall made a statement about extending the reporting deadline for the study underway by the Subcommittee on Diversity.

The Honourable Senator Marshall moved:

That, notwithstanding the motion of the committee adopted on Thursday, April 13, 2017, the date for the final report of the Subcommittee on Diversity in relation to its review of the findings contained in the Fifth Report of the Senate Administration's Advisory Committee on Diversity and Accessibility be extended from June 30, 2017 to October 31, 2017.

After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The Honourable Senator Housakos made a statement announcing the retirement of Nicole Proulx, Clerk of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration and Chief Corporate Services Officer. She will be departing the Senate in the fall.

Nicole Proulx made a statement.

At 9:55 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1). the committee proceeded in camera..

Pursuant to rule 12-7(1) of the Rules of the Senate, the committee continued its consideration of financial and administrative matters concerning the Senate's internal administration.

At 10:05 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
