The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 2:15 p.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Boehm, Deacon (Ontario), Forest, Forest-Niesing, Jaffer, Klyne, Manning, Marshall, Mockler, Moncion and Pratte (12).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 21, 2019, the committee continued its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 88.)

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 21, 2019, the committee began its examination of the Interim Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2020.

The Honourable Jane Philpott, P.C., M.P., President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Digital Government.

WITNESSES:

Karen Cahill, Assistant Secretary and Chief Financial Officer;

Glenn Purves, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector;

Marcia Santiago, Executive Director, Expenditure Strategies and Estimates.

The chair made an opening statement.

The minister made a statement and, together with Mr. Purves, Ms. Santiago and Ms. Cahill, answered questions.

At 3:28 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
