The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:16 p.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Busson, Christmas, Duffy, Gold, Manning, McInnis, Munson, Petitclerc and Poirier (9).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk and Griffin (2).

In attendance: Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-68, An Act to amend the Fisheries Act and other Acts in consequence. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 40.)

At 5:40 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 5:43 p.m., the committee resumed.

At 6:27 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 6:40 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Helin made a statement and answered questions.

Ms. Westaway made a statement and, together with Mr. Yakeleya, answered questions.

At 7:06 p.m., the deputy chair, the Honourable Senator Gold, took the chair.

At 7:17 p.m., the committee resumed, the chair, the Honourable Senator Manning, presiding.

At 7:47 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 8 p.m., the committee resumed.

Ms. Fuller made a statement and answered questions.

Mr. Kindersley made a statement.

Mr. Bates made a statement and, together with Mr. Browne, answered questions.

At 8:53 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
