The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day at 9:34 a.m., in room 356-S, Centre Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Vernon White, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Bellemare, Frum, Joyal, P.C., Lankin, P.C., Martin, McInnis, Ogilvie, Poirier, Seidman, Tkachuk, Wallace and White (13).

In attendance: Till Heyde, Deputy Principal Clerk, Chamber Operations and Procedure Office; and Sebastian Spano, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(c), the committee continued its consideration of the orders and practices of the Senate and the privileges of Parliament.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(c), the committee began its consideration of the designation of senators.

At 11:23 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
