The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:15 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cormier, Dean, Eggleton, P.C., Hartling, McIntyre, Mégie, Ogilvie, Petitclerc, Seidman, Stewart Olsen and Unger (11).

In attendance: Sonya Norris and Dillan Theckedeth, analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, the committee continued its study on the role of robotics, 3D printing and artificial intelligence in the healthcare system. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 14.)

WITNESSES:

Council of Canadian Innovators:

Mike Monteith, Representative, Co-Founder and CEO, Thoughtwire.

Kinova Robotics:

Charles Deguire, Co-Founder and President.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Monteith and Mr. Deguire each made a statement and, answered questions.

At 5:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
