The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 11:34 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Chantal Petitclerc, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dasko, Eaton, Mockler, Omidvar, Petitclerc, Ravalia and Seidman (7).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 14, 2017, the committee continued its study on issues relating to social affairs, science and technology generally. (Topic: Study on Child and Youth Mental Health

WITNESSES:)

College of Family Physicians of Canada:

Dr. Francine Lemire, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Canadian Paediatric Society:

Dr. Daphne Korczak, Chair, Mental Health Strategic Task Force (by video conference).

The chair made a statement.

Dr. Korczak and Dr. Lemire each made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:33 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 12:34 p.m., the committee, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)d), the committee resumed in camera for the consideration of a draft agenda (future business).

It was agreed that the senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room for the in camera portion of the meeting.

At 12:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
