The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:15 p.m., in room 356-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Chantal Petitclerc, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dasko, Eaton, Mégie, Munson, Omidvar, Petitclerc, Ravalia and Seidman (8).

In attendance: Sonya Norris; and Mayra Perez-Leclerc, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, the committee continued its examination of the subject matter of those elements contained in Divisions 8, 15, 16 and 21 of Part 4 of Bill C-86, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 27, 2018 and other measures.

WITNESSES:

Federally Regulated Employers — Transportation and Communications:

Derrick Hynes, President and CEO.

Canadian Bankers Association:

Sandy Stephens, Assistant General Counsel;

Tasmin Waley, Senior Legal Counsel.

Canadian Labour Congress:

Chris Roberts, National Director, Social and Economic Policy.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Hynes and Ms. Waley each made statements and answered questions.

At 5:18 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 5:25 p.m., the committee resumed.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Roberts made a statement and answered questions.

At 6:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
