The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:39 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Chantal Petitclerc, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dasko, Eaton, Mégie, Munson, Omidvar, Petitclerc, Ravalia and Seidman (8).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, the committee continued its examination of the subject matter of those elements contained in Divisions 8, 15, 16 and 21 of Part 4 of Bill C-86, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 27, 2018 and other measures.

WITNESSES:

Canadian Federation of Independent Business:

Monique Moreau, Vice President, National Affairs.

Emilie Hayes, Policy Analyst.

Conseil du patronat du Québec:

Norma Kozhaya, Research Vice President and Chief Economist (by video conference).

The chair made a statement.

Ms. Kozhaya and Ms. Moreau each made statements and answered questions.

At 11:46 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:49 a.m., the committee resumed.

The committee considered a draft agenda (future business).

At 11:57 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
