The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 1:30 p.m., in the Marquis Room, Mezzanine Level, The Fairmont Palliser, the deputy chair, the Honourable Michael L. MacDonald, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, MacDonald, Mercer and Tannas (4).

In attendance: Jed Chong, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Tony Spears, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the committee continued its study on the development of a strategy to facilitate the transport of crude oil to eastern Canadian refineries and to ports on the East and West coasts of Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

WITNESSES:

Allan Fogwill, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Tran Mah-Paulson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Central Executive Committee;

Kevin Tsang, Board Member (Vice President), Central Executive Committee;

Peter Tanchak, Board Member (Vice President), Central Executive Committee;

Prasad Panda, Member of the Legislative Assembly (Calgary-Foothills), Legislative Assembly of Alberta;

Bill Bewick, Director of Policy Wildrose Caucus, Legislative Assembly of Alberta.

Mr. Fogwill and Mr. Priaro made statements and answered questions.

At 2:28 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 2:38 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Mah-Paulson, Mr. Tsang and Mr. Tanchak made statements and answered questions.

At 3:16 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 3:30 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Panda made statement and answered questions.

At 4:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
