The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Bovey, Cormier, Dawson, Eggleton, P.C., Galvez, Griffin, MacDonald and Mercer (9).
In attendance: Jed Chong and Nicole Sweeney, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the committee continued its examination of the regulatory and technical issues related to the deployment of connected and automated vehicles. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

Rick Baker, President, Ottawa Chapter of CARP, Advocacy.
Council of Canadians with Disabilities:
Bob Brown, Transportation Committee Chairperson.
Candrive:
Brenda Vrkljan, Associate Professor, Occupational Therapy, School of Rehabilitation Science, McMaster University.
The chair made a statement.
Mr. Baker, Mr. Brown and Ms. Vrkljan made statements and answered questions.
At 10:55 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:00 a.m., the committee resumed in camera, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), to consider a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room while the committee met in camera.
The committee discussed a draft agenda.
The committee agreed to a list of witnesses for its meeting on connected and automated vehicles scheduled for October 17, 2017.
At 11:07 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
