The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12:12 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Day, Lang, Mitchell and White (5).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Wallin (1).

In attendance: Isabelle Lafontaine-Emond, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, January 28, 2016, and delegated on Monday, February 1, 2016, by the Standing A Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee began its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families.

WITNESSES:

Royal Canadian Mounted Police:

Daniel Dubeau, Deputy Commissioner, Chief Human Resources Officer;

Steven White, Assistant Commissioner, Workforce Programs and Services;

Sylvie Châteauvert, Director General, Occupational Health and Safety Branch.

The chair made a statement.

Deputy Commissioner Dubeau made a statement and, together with Assistant Commissioner White and Ms. Châteauvert, answered questions.

At 1:30 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
