Pursuant to the order of the Senate of March 30, 2021, the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day by videoconference at 9:01 a.m. [ET], the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding. This meeting is considered to have taken place in the parliamentary precinct.

Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Busson, Christmas, Cormier, Francis, Kutcher, Manning, Ravalia and Ringuette (9).

Participating in the meeting: Shaila Anwar, Principal Clerk, Sébastien Payet, Legislative Clerk, and Brigitte Martineau, Administrative Assistant, Committees Directorate; Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, the committee continued its examination of matters relating to fisheries and oceans generally, as stated in rule 12-7(11). (Topic: Implementation of Indigenous rights-based fisheries)

The chair made a statement.

The minister made a statement and, with Mr. Forgeron, Mr. Sargent, Mr. Wentzell and Mr. Lamirande, answered questions.

At 10:14 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:15 a.m., the committee resumed in camera, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), to consider a draft agenda (future business).

At 10:36 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
