Pursuant to the order of the Senate of May 5, 2022, the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, and with videoconference at 6:29 p.m. ET, the chair, the Honourable Pamela Wallin, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Deacon (Nova Scotia), Marshall, Smith and Wallin (4).
Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Gignac, Loffreda, Moncion, Ringuette, Woo and Yussuff (7).
Participating in the meeting: Mireille K. Aubé, Procedural Clerk and Debbie Larocque, Administrative Assistant, Committees Directorate; Edison César-Roy and Adriane Yong, analysts, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 28, 2022, the committee continued its consideration of the subject matter of those elements contained in Part 1 of Bill S-6, An Act respecting regulatory modernization.

Laura Jones, Robin Guy and Hugues Bourgeois each made a statement and answered questions.
At 7:32 p.m., the committee suspended.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, the committee continued its consideration of the subject matter of those elements contained in Divisions 5, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 30 of Part 5 of Bill C-19, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 7, 2022 and other measures.
At 7:32 p.m., pursuant to rule12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to discuss a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that each committee member be allowed to have one staff member present during the in camera portion of the meeting.
It was agreed that the committee allow the transcription of the in camera portion of today’s meeting, that a copy be kept with the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members and/or staff; and that the transcript be destroyed by the clerk when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than the end of this parliamentary session.
At 8:10 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
