Is the Senate of Canada part of the federal public service?
No, the Senate is a separate employer and is not subject to the Public Service Employment Act. Employees can still be part of the Public Service Pension Plan.

What should I do if I need alternative arrangements for exams or interviews?
The exam/interview invitation will include instructions for those who may require some form of accommodation at any stage of the selection process. It is our goal to assist you as best as we can. Candidates may also choose to be assessed in either English or French.

Candidates living outside of Ottawa will be contacted using a web-conferencing service. These candidates will require a phone, computer, webcam and access to the internet.
 

As a federal public servant applying to the Senate, can my pensionable time be transferred?
Yes. If you are hired at the Senate for a term of more than six months, or on an indeterminate basis (12 or more hours per week), you will be able to contribute to the Public Service Pension Plan.   

 

Where do Senate employees work?
Most Senate offices are located on Parliament Hill or in downtown Ottawa.
