The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology has the honour to table its

FIRST REPORT

Your committee, which was authorized by the Senate to incur expenses for the purpose of its examination and consideration of such matters as were referred to it, tables, pursuant to rule 12-26(2), the following report on expenses incurred for that purpose during the First Session of the Forty-second Parliament:

1.Witness Expenses$189,912

 2.With respect to its special study on the issue of dementia in our society, authorized by the Senate on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 (final report tabled November 2016):

General Expenses$ 4,408

 3.With respect to its special study on the role of robotics, 3D printing and artificial intelligence in the healthcare system, authorized by the Senate on Tuesday, October 25, 2016:

Travel Expenses$591

During the First Session of the Forty-second Parliament, your committee held 148 meetings (247 hours 56 minutes), heard 608 witnesses and submitted 37 reports in relation to its work. Your committee examined 23 bills, the subject-matter of five budget bills and received a total of 41 orders of reference.

During the First Session of the Forty-third Parliament the committee did not incur any expenses. It held 8 meetings (31 hours 14 minutes), heard 48 witnesses and submitted one report in relation to its work. Your committee received one order of reference.
