The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications has the honour to table its

FIRST REPORT

Your committee, which was authorized by the Senate to incur expenses for the purpose of its examination and consideration of such matters as were referred to it, tables, pursuant to rule 12-26(2), the following report on expenses incurred for that purpose during the First Session of the Forty-second Parliament:

1.Witness Expenses$127,784

 2.With respect to its examination and consideration of legislation:

Travel Expenses$180,534

 3.With respect to its special study on the regulatory and technical issues related to the deployment of connected and automated vehicles, authorized by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 (final report tabled January 2018):

Travel Expenses$32,886

 4.With respect to its special study on the development of a strategy to facilitate the transport of crude oil to eastern Canadian refineries and to ports on the East and West coasts of Canada, authorized by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 (final report tabled December 2016):

Travel Expenses$112,529

During the session, your committee held 149 meetings (237 hours 51 minutes), heard 549 witnesses and submitted 18 reports in relation to its work. Your committee examined six bills and received a total of 15 orders of reference.

During the First Session of the Forty-third Parliament the committee was not created and therefore did not incur any expenses.
