Given the current situation, SENgage is currently taking requests for senators as guest speakers via videoconference, and if possible, in-person guest speakers for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Looking for new ways to teach the Senate to your students?  Check out our activities for students, and sign up for the SENgage eNewsletter for our latest updates.

Through SENgage, you can invite a senator to speak to your class, school, group or youth event, in person or via videoconference, so young people can learn about the Senate of Canada.

Senators are from all regions of Canada and come from all walks of life. They are teachers, scientists, judges, champion athletes, police officers, businesspeople and women’s rights supporters.

Senators are engaging and inspiring guest speakers. They have an inside view of how Parliament works and are experts in many subjects.

Whether it’s for a social studies or civics class, social science, political science or law course, or a seminar on public policy, inviting a senator as a guest speaker is a great way to spark interest and generate thoughtful discussion.

Leading a school visit to Ottawa? The SENgage team can also help coordinate a meeting between students and a senator on Parliament Hill.

SENgage also works with youth organizations — you don’t have to be an educator to connect your group with a senator.

SENgage coordinates senators’ visits to schools, universities, colleges, and in the community across the country. We’ll coordinate with you from start to finish.

“The events with the Senator were a huge success. Given his involvement in Senate modernization and interest in our constitutional system I couldn't imagine a better speaker.  The talks were pitched at the perfect level with the right amount of background and with extremely interesting firsthand examples.”

- Professor, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia

“The Senator was engaging, humorous, and honest. I am most impressed with how organized this entire process was. I will absolutely be booking again!”

- Social Sciences Department Head, Burnaby, British Columbia

“Our morning at Parliament was an absolute joy. We were so inspired and moved by the Senator, by his stories, his thoughtful and honest responses to our questions and his willingness to take so much of his busy day to speak with us… Thank you so tremendously much for organizing such a wonderful program!”

- Co-founder and Director, Blue Sky School, Ottawa, Ontario
