The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights
has the honour to present its
TENTH REPORT
Your committee, which was authorized by the Senate on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, to examine cases of alleged discrimination in the hiring and promotion practices of the Federal Public Service and to study the extent to which targets to achieve employment equity for minority groups are being met, respectfully requests funds for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2009 and that it be empowered to adjourn from place to place within Canada and to travel inside Canada, for the purpose of such study.
Pursuant to Chapter 3:06, section 2(1)(c) of the Senate Administrative Rules, the budget submitted to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration and the report thereon of that Committee are appended to this report.

The Honourable Senator Andreychuk moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Tkachuk:
That the Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights be authorized to examine cases of alleged discrimination in the hiring and promotion practices of the Federal Public Service and to study the extent to which targets to achieve employment equity for minority groups are being met;
That the papers and evidence received and taken on the subject and the work accomplished during the Thirty- seventh Parliament, the Thirty-eighth Parliament and the First session of the Thirty-ninth Parliament be referred to the Committee; and
That the Committee submit its final report to the Senate no later than December 31, 2008.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration has examined the budget presented to it by the Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights for the proposed expenditures of the said Committee for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2009 for the purpose of its special study on the federal public service, as authorized by the Senate on Wednesday, November 21, 2007.
