The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met at 10:02 a.m. this day, in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chairman, the Honourable Senator Daniel Hays, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Anderson, Bacon, Landry, Riel, Rossiter, Spivak and Taylor. (7)
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Grimard and Prud'homme.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette and June Dewetering, Research Officers.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESS:
From Dairy Farmers of Canada:
Claude Rivard, President.
Pursuant to its order of reference to study the present state and future of agriculture in Canada, consideration of issues related to the production of raw milk cheese.
Claude Rivard from Dairy Farmers of Canada made a brief presentation and answered questions.
After discussion, it was agreed to hear officials from Health Canada on this issue.
At 11:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
