The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs met this day at 3:05 p.m. in room 356-S of the Centre Block, the Chairman, the Honourable John B. Stewart, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Bolduc, Corbin, Doody, Grafstein, Ottenheimer, Stollery and Stewart. (7)

Also present: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament, Mr. Anthony Chapman, Economics Division.

In attendance: Official Senate reporters.

WITNESSES:

From the Alliance of Manufacturers and Exporters of Canada:

James D. Moore, Vice-President, Policies Division, the Alliance;

Bruce Heister, Executive Vice-President, Asia-Pacific region, Alcan;

Tony Yuen, Senior Vice-President, NORTEL; and

Barry Grace, trade consultant with particular focus on Asia Pacific.

The witnesses made a presentation and answered questions.

At 4:38 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
