The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs met this day at 4:13 p.m. in Room 256-S of the Centre Block, the Chairman, the Honourable John B. Stewart, presiding.
Members of the committee present: the Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Corbin, Stewart and Stollery.(4)
Also present: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Mr. Anthony Chapman and Mr. Peter Berg, Economics Division.
In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
The committee proceeded to consider Bill C-77, an Act concerning an order under the International Development (Financial Institutions) Assistance Act.

Mark Gawn, Senior Program Manager, International Financial Institutions Directorate;
Roch Lévesque, Senior Counsel.
The witnesses answered questions.
The Honourable Senator Stollery moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Corbin -- That clauses 1 and 2 and the title of the bill be adopted.
Agreed unanimously -- That Bill C-77 in its entirety be adopted without amendment.
The Honourable Senator Stewart moved -- That the committee report Bill C-77 to the Senate without amendment.
Adopted.
At 4:29 p.m., the committee met in camera to resume consideration of its order of reference pertaining to relations between Canada and the Asia-Pacific region (See Committee proceedings of October 2, 1996, issue No. 8).
The committee considered a draft report.
The committee agreed to hold a final meeting for the purposes of adopting the report.
At 5:37 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
