The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries met this day, in camera, at 8:30 a.m. in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Gerald J. Comeau, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Butts, Comeau, Cook, Mahovlich, Meighen, Perrault, P.C., Robertson, Robichaud, P.C. ( Saint-Louis-de-Kent) and Stewart (10).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude Emery, Research Officer.
The committee proceeded to consider future business in camera.
At 10:23 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

The committee proceeded to consider future business in camera.
At 9:50 a.m., the committee concluded its deliberations in camera.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on December 1, 1998, the committee began its examination of the Estimates of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1998.
The committee examined a draft budget.
It was moved by Senator Meighen, seconded by Senator Perrault, that the following budget application for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2000 be concurred in and that the Chair submit same to the Standing Senate Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration for approval.
